Do you offer or plan to support Carrara 7 Pro export?

This question was asked some time ago, but I guess the Carrara market is not big enough. I did start a project making a converter for PixelFarm XML to Carrara with but due to time constraints and work pressures I simply couldn't continue.

If the pfHoe demo gave any portion of export I could resume this project, it's really the one drawback with the demo. It looks good, but how well does the data work? Hard to tell. A demo video file with accompanying XML, MA, or whatever file would be really helpful.

I can't comment on Carrara's market share, but I've been a casual user for many years going back to Ray Dream on the PC. I agree - If Pixel Farm provided export samples we might be able to write a converter.

Carrara only supports SynthEyes and RealViz import, so the PFhoe export would need to be converted to one of those unless the folks at Eovia (Carrara) added PFhoe.

The two (PFHoe and Carrara) seem like a good match considering the price of both. It would allow users to put together some nice tracked animations in the $500 price range.

I really think so.

The SynthEyes format is particularly very human readable. Converting XML into that would be relatively straightforward.

I have been a PC based Carrara user since I first got version 1. Nice to meet a fellow Carrara user. I find it a powerful app, very capable, and definately packing the most power per £ than any other app I have used.

Currently I'm a v6 user, but somehow I still think my favourite release was C5 pro. I guess the addition of hair and .X export in v6 was what made it worth having for me.

Currently considering getting pfHoe anyway, confident that a converter will be fairly doable.

An alternative I have tried was the freeware (for non commercial use) Voodoo tracker. That exports into an ma format which can be converted into Carrara compatible SynthEyes using another free application called V2C.exe (google to find it). Only problem is that the ma format exported by Voodoo is not the same as that exported by pfHoe 1. Otherwise that would have been the solution.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the late response, but I haven't checked the forum in a while. I've been down the Voodoo and V2C converter path. I found Voodoo difficult to setup and use correctly for my noisy NTSC test shot, so I experienced terrible results. It may be my fault, so I won't blame Voodoo - it was the first tracker I evaluated. The V2C binary seems to work with the exported MA scene.

PFHoe Pro 2.x looks pretty good so far. I don't know if it supports manual tracking (needed for bad shots), but I'll play around with it some more. It could be a nice tool with a converter to Carrara. I'll post with any future news.

Well, hello, I'm a carrara mac user and would be very interested in PFhoe too. I've been searching a little about it, and realised that Carrara import FBX files, a 3D format with time info, bones. I found a sample of skeleton bone (FBX file format). It was made to animate a character. I took infos for one bone and used it on a simple object. It seemed to move properly. You can imagine using a camera instead of this "simple object". PFhoe export FBX files to move a tracking camera. I don't have PFhoe, so can't see if it import properly in Carrara.
If I could have a PFhoe FBX file…
maybe you can sendme one : stehibou@yahoo.fr
thanks

Just felt like registering to offer my vote for this worthy cause also.
I'm no pro, but I can tell ya I'd go mad dreaming up uses for this addition to my Carrara workflow!

You just can't beat ultra value-for-money applications that talk to each other happily.

I could ramble on but the basic point is clear, we want this!

My preciousssss

Hi there Anakele,
I would be extremely interested to chat about your development of Carrara export plugin for Pfhoe Pro. My email is jdndawson@fastmail.com.au - it will be great to hear from you.
